Lions Club Photo of the Week: Trees of Life Project Celebrates Babies with New Trees

August 8, 2011

This year, many of our clubs are taking part in International President Tam’s Million Tree Planting Campaign. We received this week’s photo via our Submit a Story page.

In support to our International President Wing-Kun Tam’s campaign to plant one million trees this Lion Year 2011-2012 , and in line with the government’s thrust to continue its program of taking care of Mother Nature through a greener environment, the Rosario Batangas Lions Club had a massive tree planting project on August 21, 2011 at Barangay Macalamcam A, Rosario, Batangas.

SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT ENTAILS A WHOLE LOT OF WORK. But this was made possible by the efforts of our club. Two hundred (200) mahogany seedlings were brought and planted alongside the Barangay Road. The activity was coordinated with Barangay officials, who assisted us in the tree planting. The Lions didn’t mind the heat of the morning sun and the grass torns, as we enjoy planting. The project was successful.

The Rodriguez Montalban Lions Club (Philippines) is a strong supporter of International President Tam’s Million Tree Planting Campaign. Since we are situated in the upland area of the Rizal province with vast land areas, our club pledges 100,000 trees to be planted. We are now in the second phase of successful tree planting campaign, which is clearing the way: preparing the site for tree planting.
