President’s Service Blog: Meeting a Mascot and Telling the Lions Story, Maryland

June 21, 2011

International President Scruggs with Sherman the ShorebirdIt’s important that we seek new opportunities and venues to talk about who Lions are and what we do. In that way we can share our enthusiasm for Lions.

When I attended the Multiple District 22 Convention in Maryland, I met many wonderful Lions and had a great time visiting the Shorebirds Stadium for a baseball game. I told the fans there a little bit about all the great work we do to improve our communities. I also threw out the first pitch and had fun meeting Sherman the Shorebird, the team mascot.

I have asked every Lion to make a goal to recruit at least two new Lions: one to replace you when you’re gone and one to help grow the organization. Working together, we can make sure that Lions Clubs International will be a shining beacon of hope for generations to come.
