Lions Clubs Around the World Provide Access to Clean Water

While many of us take water for granted, a billion people worldwide do not have access to clean water. Our film crews have traveled the globe to see how Lions are tackling this issue.

In India, Lions are installing water purification systems in schools. In Ethiopia, our members are teaching others about face and hand washing. And from Malaysia to Mali, Lions are providing access to clean water sources.

When clean water is not accessible, women in Africa spend hours fetching and carrying heavy water jugs. It’s dangerous and debilitating. “We have a very difficult time because we are supposed to wake up at 4 a.m. to get water five kilometers from here,” according to a villager named Rachel. Lions in Kenya dug a water well that has improved the lives of women by giving them more time to care for their families and earn a living
