Story of the Week: Lions Club Horse Show Becomes a Community Cornerstone

November 12, 2010

As Lions, our clubs are rich in heritage and pride. For 53 years and counting, the Raleigh Host Lions Club has put together the North Carolina State Championship Horse Show. This event has become a cornerstone for the club, and the riders who have participated in it for decades.

During this charity event, the club awards ribbons and prizes to the best riders. The event allows Lions to raise between $15,000 and $20,000 per year, which it donates to causes including Raleigh Lions Clinic for the Blind, Camp Dogwood and food packages for the holidays.

This year’s event featured 200 riders and horses. The club shared video from the event with us, including footage of the riders and long-time supporters.
