Story of the Week: Lions Carve Out Family Fun at Lumberjack Show

November 5, 2010

Lions like to have fun, and it’s this fun that brings our members together to reach out and do good in our communities. For example, the Ogdensburg, Heuvelton and Lisbon Lions clubs in New York recently hosted their second-annual Lumberjack Show and Woodsmen Day.

This action-packed day featured local vendors, freshly pressed apple cider and demonstrations in lumberjack activities. Lions also participated in the global effort to eradicate blindness and help the visually impaired by performing vision screenings for children.

The club shot some great footage of community members enjoying a fun day for the whole family. Highlights included cross-cut and bow sawing, chain saw racing, speed splitting and axe throwing.

It was a great day and great weather. Spectators, friends, family, and Lions shared a wonderful time! The Woodmans Team from Paul Smiths College were great along with some of our locals. 🙂
