Photo of the Week: Lions, Pediatric Cataract Initiative Featured on CBS Early Show

August 19, 2010

During last month’s convention in Sydney, we announced the Pediatric Cataract Initiative – a partnership program of Lions Clubs International Foundation and the Bausch + Lomb Early Vision Institute. We received this week’s photo from Kristy Guerra at Bausch + Lomb.

On August 12, 2010, the Pediatric Cataract Initiative was featured on the CBS Early Show, a national morning news program in the U.S. Dozens of local Lions and Bausch + Lomb representatives – including Past International President Al Brandel – stood outside in the rain for three hours to help promote this program that saves children’s sight.

I am Shuhaab Rabbani, president, Lions Club of Nagpur Metro, Nagpur, India.

I believe the Pediatric Cataract Initiative is a noble venture by Lions Clubs International which can further be taken to poor Asian countries. Saving children’s sight is saving the next generation’s future.

    Great initiative.

A great program. The younger we can save someone’s sight the better. I look forward to when this is able to go worldwide.
