Photo of the Week: Kids “Dig” Raising Funds for Lions Club Scholarship Program

June 14, 2010

Many of our clubs hold fundraisers that allow them to award scholarships to local students. We found this picture of a fundraiser for the Ski Town USA Lions Club’s Scholarship Program in the Steamboat Today newspaper.

Kids Dig Helping Lions Clubs Scholarship Fund

During the recent Kids’ Day at Dig This in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, USA, about 150 children aged 12 or younger got to operate a piece of heavy machinery in exchange for a donation to the scholarship fund. In this photo, an eight-year-old girl enjoys her turn using an excavator to move dirt – with help from a trained professional.

What’s the biggest – or most unusual – fund raiser your club has ever done? Leave a comment below to let us know.
